Governor of Eastern Province, and HE Engr. Abdullah Al-Hussayen, the Minister of Water and Electricity, have launched the “Open Cycle and Combined Cycle Qurayyah Power Plant Projects”, where HE Eng. Fahad Al-Jubeir, the Secretary of the Eastern Province, HE Mr. Abdullatif Al-Abdelkadir, Governor of Abqaiq, Eng. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Barrak, CEO of SEC along with many distinguished persons were also present.

These two strategic projects have been successfully executed by JV of Arabian Bemco Contracting Co. (BEMCO) and Korean Doosan Co. on Lump-sum Turnkey

basis with total capacity of 3,920 MW and connected to SEC’s grid for the Eastern Province, which represent a great addition to serve many regions of KSA.

On this occasion, Engr. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Barrak, welcomed Governor of Eastern Province and all kind attendees, expressing his happiness on this auspicious occasion to celebrate the launch of Extension of Qurayyah Power Plant. He added that today’s celebration has a special resonance in the heart of everyone

because this project represents part of SEC’s efforts to introduce the latest technology with high-efficiency of Turbines and to convert the Simple Cycle Plant to Combined Cycle Plant in order to contribute for the reduction of consumption fuel and to increase generated capacity by 50% with the same amount of fuel in addition to reduce the emission of gases which have a positive effect on reducing the level of air pollution and preserving the environment. He expressed the pride of Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) to success to launch this prestigious power plant which will be met with the demand of electricity in different regions of the Kingdom.
